His energy burned the hall. His vastness shone through the distance. His HUGE ego shook the stage.

He rocked.

He rocked my whole being.

It started like a good novel. bad lighting, bad stereo, bad weather, almost bad everything. There leaves only one task for the super hero --- save us all. And he did.
T'was a neat job.

The opening notes parted the couple(as in a man and his leaning girlfriend) in front of me. Yes it is grasping. Very.

TE是华丽的风格(用syy的话说就是没有单音，全是合弦，look syy is very dry haha)。The caress of his first stroke brought about an image. I recalled the sea in seoul at night, where nightligths of buildings were reflected on the rippling water surface.  The shimmering colors gave the eyes an utter delight. So did TE, 他的音色是如此明丽，the shabby cold hall immediately started sizzling。

I wouldnt call myself the expressive type but soon a big grin was put on the face. You just could not help it. Soon people were rocking on the seats, a scene not regularly seen in a concert hall/ or movie theatre/ or any hall in China.

He's quite strong-flavoured. I dont know if you get me. I shall explain in a series of Qs.

Yes, he's hot salty spicy. He's just strong-flavoured.

 

His jazz was right. Actually his everything was. His jazz might even be too right for jazz.  I shall put myself this way. Bands like the velvet underground are really good, and good in a 'wrong' way-- off-key, out of order but very pleasant to ears. However TE is different. Call him free, but he's free in a disciplined way. I was surprised by how much he stayed in tempo. It look him 2 beats to adjust to a new rhythm and then he stayed glued to it. He was extremely steady. 我在想他有没有started with, or at least受过很长一段时间的古典教育。(hell with some of the clappers, 丢了节奏还矢志不移的抚掌打拍子，do you know it's disturbing!!)

 

TE has an amplifying effect for the messages he intends to send. Strong was his xxx(I seriously couldnt catch his first words, what's the name of the piece?), his very-soothing, full-of-tenderness Somewhere over the Rainbow shattered me. My heart literally missed a beat when he hit the first note. I went through countless versions before but that was only the 2nd time I lost myself. (oh only the 2nd time thing really cracked me, laughs, maybe I was just tired from work, who knows. )

 

I could not get my attention off his skillfulness with the instrument. He definitely probed many alternative approaches to the guitar, e.g. drumming, scratching, tuning etc. I exclaimed midway through the show that the cells had merged, between the instrument and the artists. "How much time has he spent with it?" I wondered, " Although it surely called for gift, apart from diligence. I saw that on Stern with his violin too."  I was then struck by my own analog. I'd never compared guitar to any violin or piano pieces before. What was a guitarist to me? He would had been just a guitar player. TE is a real -IST, a maestro. There should be an Italian word in the guitar world, just for him.

 

I tend to feel great shows are more of a mono experience. An adventure into oneself, through the interaction with the artist. And he happens to be the very expressive sort. 他是极真诚、坦率的。We had the good luck that he was not only truthful and expressive, but also possesses a worldly experience, a rich personality, and a tolerant thus absorbing nature. His lifestory kind of flows out with various songs he plays. His philosophy was flowing alongside it. He was displaying a world through himself. He was an window to an even bigger self.

 

You keep relating to yourself when you encounter such a strong ego. Such reflecting is illuminating. I value it with gratitude.

 

I explored his popularity with skepticism too. Aside from the above mentioned, I find TE to be a regularly-decent man. 他有强烈的普世的美好的情感, which was very charismatic, to one and to all.

 

Thank you lyx for buying me the tickets. By saying 100 was too cheap for him, I meant the seats worthed another 0. :P

There is a type of artists who play 100 yards away from you but still make you feel you are sharing an intimate experience with him. TE made me feel that way.
